in which he slams Stephen Harper for saying that "Canada has no real alternative to the U.S. legal system" - and now check out his statement at 1:13:53 on that CPAC video from February 11, where Edney says: "I cannot see this government having any standing to press charges against Omar Khadr."

Dennis Edney says at 59:12 minutes: "We have sufficient provisions in our Criminal Code to deal with the extraterritorial activity of a Canadian abroad who is alleged to have commit-ted terrorism offences."

I get the impression from the above that Dennis Edney will say and do whatever he thinks it will take to get what he wants.

At 58:73 in the Shia video, he suggests that Omar Khadr has been left in GITMO because "he is a young Canadian Muslim."

he states that he believes "there is an inherent racism" against Islam in Canadian society.

Oh, yeah, I trust the above-named to "rehabilitate" Omar Khadr.

April 26 update: After a great deal of thought, I have decided to publish some of my email correspondence with Dennis Edney, dating from December, 2008 and from February, 2009. It hasn't been easy to come to this decision. I've worried a lot that nobody will ever feel confident in speaking their thoughts to me online again. But I have finally realized that if I was one of the good people who are presently mobilizing in support of Dennis Edney and his repatriation plan for Omar Khadr, (I know this because Dennis sent an email to a number of them and included me, which revealed all of our identities and email addresses to each other), if I was one of those supporters, especially the Christian ones, then I would want to know what Dennis said in those emails, in particular, I would want to know his stated views on Christians.
